Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo For Lily

I sure hope you all have been enjoying the beginnings of Spring wherever you are! Up North, we have been getting some beautiful weather, and all the little trees and flowers are just starting to bud! Take away the Spring rain, and this time of year would be just perfect!
In case you are wondering what I’ve been up to, I have been having a blast with my little one. And by having a blast, I mean I’m exhausted… kidding! Well, I am exhausted, but happily exhausted!
She had her first walk a couple weekends ago, and her first trip to the ocean. We brought back a lovely clam to dry out and save as a keepsake. Being a mom is so much fun!
Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo
Today, I am reviewing the Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo from Fisher-Price. Does anyone remember the Johnny Jump Up from when they were a kid? The one that hangs in the doorway? I do! I remember we used to put my little nephew in it. It was hilarious to watch him go crazy bouncing away in that thing! He LOVED it.
Well, today’s Johnny Jump Ups are a bit different in that they don’t hang in the doorway anymore. You can still get those kinds of jumpers, but now they make ones that sit right on your floor. This is the type of jumper I got for my cutie.
Pros:
Security and Safety
On security and safety, I would give this product 5 out of 5 stars. The good thing about these types of jumpers is the obvious, safety. You don’t have to worry about it coming undone and crashing down like the kind of jumpers that hang in doorways. And you don’t have to worry about it ruining your home for that matter.
The base is sturdy, made of stainless steel. I have used my body weight to push and pull on it, and it doesn’t bend or break.
Assembly
On assembly, I would give this product 4 out of 5 stars. It comes with an easy-to-read assembly guide, and for the most part, I would say assembly was a breeze. Most of the pieces just snap together easily. Also, there aren’t a ton of pieces, to begin with.
The only thing I would suggest to the maker of this product is to pre-assemble the seat cover to the seat. This step is actually what took the longest, and there is no reason why it can’t come attached to the seat before shipping. It’s just one more thing to hassle the consumer with putting together. It’s not that it’s hard, just more of a nuisance.
The entire assembly probably took less than 10 minutes.
Enjoyment
I would give this 5 out of 5 stars for likability. My daughter loves this thing. She can’t quite touch the floor because she’s still just a little peanut. But even so, she has a blast just looking at everything. And we “help” her bounce. There’s so much stuff for her to look at, touch, play with, and enjoy!
It makes a “boing” sound every time she jumps. She can also push a button that makes a “boing” sound. Also, there is a setting that allows music to either continuously play, or play a little tune with every jump on top of the “boing.”
There is plenty of buoyancy and “give” to the straps that allow for ample bounces! Even though she has a hard time jumping on her own just yet, she loves when we move it up and down for her.
The seat rotates 360 degrees so your baby can turn and enjoy stuff no matter what direction she or he is facing.
Variety
For variety, this jumperoo gets 5 out of 5 stars. It comes in multiple different styles and colors. The Roarin’ Rainforest is just one selection. You can even get different themes that accompany various seat cover designs.
Price
4 out of 5 stars for the price of this toy. While it does compare to similar products out there, simple modifications result in increases in price. For example, the addition of two plastic pieces and a couple of hanging toys increases the price by $25.00.
Cons:
Sizing
Unfortunately, I have to give this product 2 out of 5 stars for size options. While it does have the option to adjust to 3 different lengths, none of these lengths are short enough for my daughter! At 4.5 months, she’s too short to reach the floor, even on the shortest setting.
I have to use a pillow under her feet for her to be able to bounce. Before purchasing this product, I noticed other reviewers complained of the same problem. So unless your baby is on the taller side, you may have issues until he or she gets a little older. Be wary though; this product only holds a baby up to 25lbs!
Battery Replacement
On battery replacement, I would rate this 2 out of 5 stars. It’s not the most challenging thing to replace the batteries in, but it isn’t really what I would call easy. The instructions suggested putting batteries in during assembly, before locking the battery compartment into place. However, I didn’t do this because I wanted to know how easy it would be to replace the batteries once it’s assembled. I wish I had just put them in, to begin with!
For battery replacement, you can either flip the entire contraption, which is rather cumbersome or gain access to the battery compartment, or you can flip yourself upside down and open the battery compartment from that angle (as if you’re working on a car), or you can remove the toy section in which the battery compartment is in from the bouncer itself. None of these options are exactly “easy.”
Of course, once you gain access to the battery compartment, there is a tiny screw that requires a Phillips head screwdriver. But, just about every baby toy has this for safety reasons.
Overall:
Overall, I would give this fun toy a bouncin’ 4 out of 5 stars! Worth every penny. It keeps my daughter entertained while I get stuff done around the house, and ultimately makes her smile and laugh, which is the whole point, right?! There’s nothing better than that giant smile she gives me when she’s happy and playing!
