Do you ever just want something quite traditional but different all in the same meal? I did last night and ended up eating Blue Cheese Burgers and Bacon Wrapped Asparagus and man, they were good. You had your sinful delight with the bacon wrapped around healthy green vegetables, and the hamburger was to die for!
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus:
- Bake for a total time of 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp.
- Serve immediately.
- 1 bunch asparagus (20 stalks)
- 10 pieces of center cut bacon
- a shake of black pepper
*Any quantity is fine, you just want to make sure you have half as many whole strips of bacon as you do asparagus.
- Wash asparagus and pat dry. Trim off the woody stem – usually the bottom 2 inches.
- Slice strips of bacon down the center, so you have two long, thin pieces.
- Wrap the bacon around the asparagus and place on a foil or Silpat lined baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven (with the oven rack on the upper-middle slot), then turn it on to 400 degrees. The bacon wrapped asparagus should be in the oven during the preheat phase
(recipe is from Lovely Little Kitchen)
Blue Cheese Burgers:
- 2 eggs
- 1tbsp pepper
- 2 lb ground chuck
- Italian Bread Panko Crumbs (add enough crumbs until you like the consistency of the patty)
- 1 tbsp Oregano
- Blue Cheese crumbles (any brand you like)
- McCormick Grill Mates: Sauce mix-ins: Sweet Mesquite and Caramelized Onion
- 1 tsp to 2 tsp of garlic, minced
In a large mixing bowl add your ground chuck, eggs, seasonings, and bread crumbs. Add Blue Cheese crumbles and mix well. Break off big fist-sized chunks of the hamburger mixture and press them into rough patties against your work surface with the palm of your hand. Then gently pat the edges into a uniform rounded shape. Whenever you have your hamburger patty formed, make sure you do the simple trick. (To make the simple, just use your fingertips to pat the middle of the patties slightly thinner than the outer edge — maybe a quarter of an inch more shallow, at most.) Cook your burgers in a flat pan over medium heat. The patties should sizzle when you place them on the pan, and when you flip them, you should see a nicely dark, golden-brown sear on the underside.
Hamburger Cooking Times:
- Medium-Rare (red in the middle): 6 minutes total
- Medium (pink in the middle): 7 to 8 minutes total
- Medium-Well (a little of pink still in the middle): 9 minutes total
- Well Done (no pink): 10 minutes total
I like to place my hamburger buns in the oven to toast them a bit before I place my condiments on. Adding the condiments, well that depends on the taste of the person making them! I hope you enjoy and eat well!

You had me at bacon! This sounds seriously delicious! I can’t wait to try it.
Thank you! It was delicious!
I don’t usually put cheese on my burgers, but when I do I love adding things like feta, goat or even blue cheese. It really adds to the flavor.
I agree. I also add it inside the burgers…yummy!
Yum. Bacon with or on anything is my kind of food! This looks and sounds just delicious. Must give it a try!
That’s how my kids feel about bacon. The younger two and the two that are grown. 🙂
I love bacon and I like asparagus so I’m sure I would love the bacon wrapped asparagus. Thanks for the hamburger cooking times. I’ll have to follow the chart next time instead of just guessing like I normally do.
That’s a classic favorite and I’m sure everyone loved it. I like that you added blue cheese on top of the burger, that makes it so much more tasty. I can imagine the flavors!
It was great! I was introduced to adding blue cheese to my burgers by the man I am dating. He seems to have pretty good tastes! 🙂
This recipe looks so tasty! I love bacon and asparagus. I love medium rare hamburger
Can you believe I don’t like bacon? My husband does, so I would wrap a couple for him and leave a few plain for myself. The burger looks deeeeeeeelish!
This is so delicious and tempting. This would be great for our family dinner this coming weekend.

This looks really tasty. I love it!
I used to love blue cheese and eat it all the time. I have no idea why I stopped. I haven’t had it in years. This sounds like the recipe to change all that.
I love the taste of it but I am also a cheese lover! I hope you try this and love it as much as we do! 🙂
One of the nicest things about Spring is getting the BBQ all fired up! Thanks for this. My family will love it if I make these burgers!
