How To Make Strawberry-Raspberry Freezer Jam is as easy as 1, 2, 3! I promise you, once you go “homemade” you’ll never go back to store-bought jams, jellies or preserves! As my Granny says, “It’s so good, you can slap the teeth outta a mule.” Silly Granny, but she is right! It’s excellent!
You can make jam, jellies, and preserves out of ANYTHING!!! Strawberries, blackberries, watermelon, yes, I said watermelon, and much, much more! I know back in my Granny’s day; you didn’t waste anything! They were poor folks that worked hard and had to scrape by with what they had available. The Freezer Jam recipe was one of their favorite treats!
How To Make Strawberry -Raspberry Freezer Jam:
(NOTE: Depending on the berries that you use, the recipe will change a wee bit.)
Before you start, you’ll need to have these items because you’ll not have time to hunt for them!!!
- Dry measuring cup
- Liquid measuring cup
- 2 large bowls
- Large sauce pan
- Ladle
- Mason Jars
- lids and seals
Ingredients:
2 1/2 c sliced strawberries
2 1/2 c raspberries
3 1/2 c sugar
1 c water
1 1/2 packages of Sure-Jell
Directions:
Use your dry measuring cup to measure the exact amount of prepared fruits. Place fruit in large bowl. This is the fun part: squish your fruit together. Don’t have it pulverized but where the jam still has chunks in it.
Measure 3 1/2 cups of sugar into the large saucepan. Add you Sure Jell to the sugar and mix well. Add a cup of water and add your pot to medium heat on the stove. Bring contents to a boil while stirring continuously. Remove pan from stove.
Add your fruit mixture and stir until everything is well blended.
Fill all mason jars IMMEDIATELY! Pour directly into your mason jars, leaving about 1/2 inch space at the top of the jars to allow expansion during freezing; seal with lids.
Let your jam stand at room temperature for at least 24 hours or until they set. They will refrigerate up to 3 to 4 weeks or freeze up to a year. If frozen, remember you’ll have to thaw them out before you use!
Note: You can use your jam on pancakes and waffles for breakfast instead of syrup! They are wonderful!
I hope you enjoy your jam! You don’t have to be as poor as a church mouse to enjoy the sweetness of your labor! Enjoy and let me know how your freezer jam turns out!!
