Her Garden: A Place of Sanctuary
Susan makes her case about how important of a role gardens play in our ecosystems, not just for California but everywhere. Human growth is expanding, taking away from natural habitats, and the very fabric that it holds dear. She spent 25 years making this garden her haven. Wildlife thrives, and people can come to get educated about nature and enjoy the beauty which she created.
In her book, Susan reaches out and tries to educate people in what they can do to conserve and make a difference in our world. We have only one and we need to do everything in our power to keep as much “natural” beauty as possible. Everything needs to be brought back into balance.

The Amazing Story of The Gottlieb Native Garden: My Thoughts
I, Wendy, received Story of The Gottlieb Native Garden to review. I really enjoyed leafing through and seeing what this amazing woman and her husband accomplished in their “garden”. It tells you about why they started, myths about birds and maintaining bird feeders to nature. I have sat my son down with me and show him the colorful pictures and read what she has developed.
I adore books. I love to read anything I get my hands on. This book wasn’t any different. The pictures in The Gottlieb Native Garden made me want to jump into the page and envelope myself in this wondrous world!

Look at the photographs here. They are gorgeous! Who wouldn’t want to just get lost in this world? I know I would!
I live in Alabama on 50 acres, most of it is woods. My neighbors are acres away and at night you can’t see 3 feet in front of you. You can, however; see the stars and listen to all the noises coming from the woods from frogs, insects and different mammals. This place they are showing in the book is unique. Nature is surrounding them and they conserve it. Beautiful!
I think that people who live in cities are missing out on a lot of things. I understanding there is a lot to do in cities, but sometimes people have to get back to nature and enjoy the serenity of life. A simple and busy way, naturally. I think it is great that Susan and her husband Dan have made this sanctuary to educate and have people enjoy what was already here.
