Ingredients:
1/2 tsp thyme
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 1/2 lbs hamburger
1 whole sweet onion, diced
1 whole large bell pepper, diced
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 c ketchup
1 c water
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 c Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco Sauce (optional and to taste)
red pepper flakes (a pinch)
salt and pepper (to taste)
Directions:
In a large skillet, bring your stove to a medium heat. Add hamburger and cook until brown. Drain the fat.
Add onions, bell pepper, onion and minced garlic. Cook for a few minutes until vegetables begin to get soft.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, thyme, dry mustard, and water. Stir to combine all the ingredients. Let simmer for about 15 minutes before adding salt and pepper to taste. Add Worcestershire and Tabasco sauces if desired. Taste and adjust your seasonings as needed to fit your taste.
Spoon meat mixture over the buns. Serve
To make these better than they already are, add a piece of provolone cheese before loading your bun up with the deliciousness that will be your sandwich. When you take that first bite you will be in heaven. You’ll never go back to Sloppy Joe Manwich again! Time for your taste buds to jump!
This is a great meal that will go far with the everyday working family. Sitting down at the family table and enjoying each others company is the best part of the day!
